PostHeaderIcon How do you sell an engineless yacht w/out costing a lot of $?

x asked:

I have to unload a yacht quickly but the engine is toast.
Otherwise it’s in good shape. I think it would be better
for a new owner to repower the way he/she wants to. Any ideas?

advertise to ppl that want to be burried at sea; or tow it out and have a bonfire and marshmallows, invite a band and sell tickets

TRY EBAY. Some one must need that of course. Just take a few pictures and list it on eBay. Don’t forget to describe the yacht as best as possible. Including that there is no engine especially. GOOD LUCK!

I am a boater also, and my suggestion would be to talk to the harbormaster, or yacht dealers in your harbor. They are pretty tight commnunities and word of a quality boat spreads fast. Ebay is a way to go, but kind of a pain in the **** if the person is not local. Personally I have never had any luck with Craig’s list. Some people swear by it, my experience has been dissapointing when it comes to boats or marine equipment.
Another idea is to post an ad in the local marine stores and any bait/tackle shops. You should be able to sell it quickly if it is in good shape. Besides, most people who buy used boats usually anticipate replacing or overhauling the engine anyways…if they’re smart.
    Good luck!!!

Try E-Bay or Yahoo auctions, State that there is no engine, and is to be sold as is.be as clear as possible as to the condition of the vessel.
