What kind of licence and certification and training would I need to drive a 57 foot yacht, and a 160 ft yacht?
Fernesta asked:
I am just wondering if there is any kind of certification and training that I would need to drive a 57 and 160 foot motor yacht, is it just like drivers education except for boats?

Thanks
oh….so I need experience? All i want is a party yacht…im not going to go across the ocean or anything..just around the bay that I live on. Do I still need this licence?
And it would be my personal yacht, not for a company
Oh I only meant this for recreation, not for a career. I mean I want to buy a yacht, not work on one :p
I just want it to be on my dock so I can take it out with my family when ever we want.
How do you put a big sailboat in and out of the water. Like maybe a sixty foot yacht. I saw some?
Lleh asked:
crane-like things at the yacht club but they didn’t look big enough to hoist a big boat. Any body know of a site where I can see pics of a big boat being hoisted or transported?
The crane-like things were just a post bolted into concrete with single arm extending from the top of the post with a cable and hook suspended from the arm, not at all like the machine Robert R so eloquently describes.
